a new start for Amaria the dragoness and her human^^ but will it go as good as it sounds? I do not guarantee as many episodes than the previous season, but there will be a lot to chew on^^
Something slowly got her out of her dream.
Something was touching her wings in her sleep. She hated that! Anyone touching her wings would have faced her deepest anger! But not this time… Because she recognized the familiar soft touch of a certain human’s fingers, and it was probably the only thing she allowed to do this.
Because in his case, she knew it was especially meant to annoy her… to tickle her…
Still not moving or opening an eye, she grinned in her sleep. And she could feel in the touch that the human had noticed she wasn’t asleep anymore.
The fingers left her wings, and a hand caressed her neck upward, coming to her head. She didn’t react; she wanted to see how far he’d come.
The hand slid on her cheek… came to the corner of her mouth… and the silly little fingers tried to sneak through her lips. Amused, she chased them first with a lick. It was a small part of him, but still it tasted like a tempting appetizer. Nothing was as good as this human flavor in the world!
She felt the hand trying to sneak through once again, in the front of her muzzle this time… huge mistake! With a quick movement of jaws, she captured the annoying hand and wrapped her tongue around the wrist.
How delicious… This time, it was enough for her to open her eyes and give him a victorious gaze.
“Gotcha!” She growled, though her growl wasn’t a threat, only a way to play with him.
There he was. Her human, laughing with a childish face. Other humans would have never dared to tease her like this, but he was different. In his eyes, it was like she was harmless. And she couldn’t even tell how she loved that!
She had lived quite a part of her life with this human, and experienced so many things with him. She had first been his prisoner… Then, far before he realized it, he had become hers. She had never gotten any difficult in manipulating him the first times. But manipulating him had turned out not being as fun as she’d have thought.
There was something in him that even made it unpleasant… He was soft hearted, behind his mask of a rude human. He cared for her, and not only as the prisoner he thought she was… That had made her want to show him that not everyone in this world despised him or rejected him. That’s how she had come to want more than abusing him. She wanted his respect… and real interest from him.
That’s how she had wanted him to love her.
Of course, the struggle was real here… Manipulating was easy, learning the way a human heart worked wasn’t. He was so different from her on many points, and of course, resisting to her instinctive desires for him was a terribly hard task. But when she thought she would break at some point, he had come to understand her… and allow her… because he trusted her.
Through her whole life, it was probably the most heartwarming memories she preciously kept. All the effort he did for her, with her… All this time spent together, getting to know each other, and fully accepting each other. They had grown stronger together. They had overcome all the obstacles together. And they had earned their freedom together.
Now, nothing could ever break what they had. And she would have never traded this human for any dragon. He was hers. And she was his. That was all she mattered for.
“Now, what could motivate a human like you to dangerously get his delicious hand nearby the maw of a terrible dragoness?” She teased him with a grin, slithering her tongue on his wrist and sucking softly the hand in her maw. He did taste wonderful! That silly tempting human…
“I don’t know… Maybe I wanted to offer a sweet wake up to my beloved owner, on this special day…” He replied with a confident smile.
He hadn’t forgotten. Today was the anniversary of the day he gave up his former life to come and live with her. Sometimes, she felt a bit guilty to have nothing better to offer than a cave as a home, but she did build him the comfiest bed she could. Leaves and foam to soften the ground, with a blanket she had found somewhere in the woods, probably forgotten by human passing by. And she did clean it every day so he could get the sweetest sleep.
However, most of the night, he didn’t want to sleep alone on it. She meant it as a personal gift, but this silly human insisted to share it with her. Although dragons had an instinctive respect for others’ properties, she never denied an occasion to sleep with him, to share her warmth in return. It was strange, to live with a being that cared more for her than himself, but she loved that! And she had to admit, even though it went against her instincts, she cared more for this sweet human than for herself.
That was probably why he would have never forgotten this special day. And this made her heart pound in her chest. If she listened to her deepest desires, she would have savagely engulfed him like the irresistible breakfast he was! But instead, she released his hand and lean on his mouth for a gentle lick on his lips.
“It was the sweetest wake up ever, my human…” She whispered with a smile. “And I wondered if my sweet servant felt… in playful mood?”
He giggled. She knew what he was thinking of; he knew her tastes quite well… But this was no normal day… She just waited for him to reply so she could surprise him.
“I knew it.” He said with a little laugh. “So what game do you want to play? Romantic breakfast?”
That probably was the funniest part of him. He was fully aware of which desires dominated all others in her, and still he didn’t show any sign of fear or rejection. In the contrary, he encouraged her to be herself, especially with him. That silly tasty human!
“No… Well, maybe, later… Today I’d like to play a different game…” She said in a teasing tone.
“I’m listening” He replied with curiosity. How hard it was to not simply jump on this smiling head to shove it into her maw!
“See… I’m kind of hungry… So I think I need to hunt…” She purposely kept an enigmatic tone. “It would be quite a lovely surprise to realize that… the prey I’m tracking is a delicious human…”
“Ooooh You’d like to chase me! Big mean dragon!” He laughed playfully.
“Mmmh… Let’s see how I picture things… Sooner or later, I always catch my prey… Then I bring it home to savor it.” She falsely thought out loud, suggesting him her whole plan. “Of course, preys are always a bit reluctant, so when mine will understand it’s no use to fight me, maybe he will come to bargain… trying to offer something more delightful than eating him…”
“And will it work?” He asked with the same playful smile, his hand coming to caress her hind legs to show he got the message.
“I’m a dragoness with needs, so… I think I won’t deny a sweet treatment… It will be even sweeter if my prey gives me want I want and considers… showing how much of a male he is.” She sneakily licked his cheek with a wink. Another human trick she had learnt to tease him. “But when I’m satisfied, then… I don’t think my hunger will be gone…”
“Is the poor human ending in there?” He faked concerns and worries, resting his hand on her belly and rubbing gently.
“That’s the right place for a human, after all…” She tickled his ear with her tongue. God, she could already feel him in there! “But… I don’t know… if he’s really satisfactory, maybe I’ll keep him as a servant…”
“You know, a human in there would have nothing else to do than struggling hard…”
“That’s what I mean by ‘satisfactory’.” She grinned deviously, before finally dropping the act. “So, my love? What do you think of all this? Wouldn’t you be… scared?”
On the matter of pride, they were quite alike, and it was quite easy to tickle him. She knew he wouldn’t oppose any objection after this.
“I’m so not scared that I would play scared just to show a certain dragoness I don’t fear her little games!” He laughed for good. “I… I felt really stupid saying that!”
“It makes absolutely no sense, you’re aware of it?” She mocked him. “But forget about any other human. I want you, my scared little prey.”
“Then when shall we begin?” He asked tenderly, stroking her lower jaw.
“It has already begun, silly morsel…” She replied, licking her lips with a predatory look. “You’re lucky I’m just waking up, that should give you around ten minutes before I start hunting.” And like the perfect conclusion, a deep gurgle of hunger raised from her insides.
“Better go!” He dropped, standing up with an already frightened look. What a good actor! He then ran out of the cave, leaving her listening to his fast steps getting away.
She took her time to stretch and yawn.
She was so lucky to have an amazing human like him! What could a dragon ask for more? He was sweet, loving, handsome, playful, and he didn’t even protest at the idea of being her prey! She knew he wouldn’t even protest whenever she actually wanted to eat him. What could she say? She just loved his taste, his skin texture… and his perfect meal size.
Of course, when she actually did it, she kept his safety as her first concern. She took care of leaving him enough air to breathe for minutes, and she usually didn’t keep him longer than that. Despite her deep desire to always experience it with him, her worst nightmare was to lose him for good. She didn’t know what she would become if he wasn’t here anymore…
This day would be no exception. She knew she would come to it, and not turn back. She would swallow him like the sweet prey she had asked him to be, and they would spend lovely minutes before she would release him safe and sound.
She stood up on her legs, and admired the clear sky above the plain. There was always a risk for him to go out. Of course, there were predators. But he knew how to fight and she didn’t think any creature could defeat him, even another dragon. The biggest threat… was being seen by another human…
He had faked his death to come and live with her. So if any human would report to their city they had spotted him, alive in the woods, there might be troubles… She had chosen this cave, because humans never went that deep in the woods, and the risk was minimized. But still, she didn’t want him to be out for too long.
And besides, she thought while licking her lips, she didn’t want this hunt to last for too long.
She was hungry…
He ran through the woods, avoiding the low branches and spiky bushes. Of course he didn’t want to get scratched in the first place, but he was mainly motivated to not be caught with cuts. Amaria didn’t like blood, and he cared about being perfect on this day.
As he lived with her in the woods, he had come to realize he knew nothing about happiness before he met her. Enjoying the company of this dragoness had been a real struggle to him at first. Because of fear, because of doubts, because of moral principles… But he was way beyond these now! Screw the world, he felt so alive when he shared things with her!
As he ran with no real idea where he went, he arrived to a little lake with timid sunrays piercing through the trees. It was beautiful… peaceful… The crazy idea came through his mind that this was where he wanted to be caught. He had been lucky to find this place; he didn’t know there were such lovely ones in the woods. He didn’t often get out of the cave, for safety matters. If he knew such a place existed, he would have run here on purpose.
It was like the sunrays were alive… a bit blurry… but… there was something in one of them! A strange shape, so white he hadn’t spotted it at first in the light. It was familiar… and approaching… when it reached the side of the lake, it opened two eyes. And the young man gasped in surprise.
“You! You’re the thing I saw that night! What or who are you?”
The shape didn’t answer, staring at him with a strange look.
“It’s somehow thanks to you that I am here today… If you didn’t guide me to the warehouse, I would have never discovered what was hidden in it… And I wouldn’t be able to fake my death… Your words… You said I’d die… and to the rest of the world, I died indeed. To get a better life…”
He didn’t know how this was still so alive in his memories… probably because it had been the weirdest night ever… and also the most blessed one.
“The misfortune of some, make the happiness of the others...” It finally talked in its strange echoing voice. “But maybe there is a way to bring peace to more people… You have to go there…”
The young man followed the direction the shape was showing, without understanding a single of his words. It seemed to point to where he came.
“The plain? Why do I have to go there?”
“Because this is where it’s supposed to happen…”
“What will happen?”
“You shall see…”
On this last mysterious sentence, the shape evaporated, disappearing like a pack of smoke and leaving the young man confused. He tried to look around to find it, but he was tackled by something he didn’t see coming.
“Gotcha!” Amaria shouted in victory, maintaining him firmly on the ground with her paws. “See? I always get my prey! Hem… I didn’t hurt you, did I?” she switched to worries.
“No, no, I’m okay” He smiled awkwardly. He had almost forgotten why he was in the woods today. “I’m just surprised.”
“You’re sure? You seem thoughtful… I know you my human, we can stop if you prefer. We’ll find another game…”
He bit his lips. No, he didn’t want another game! Her plans were too fun! But his curiosity took away his focus… and he knew he wouldn’t be able to play convincingly if he didn’t figure out what this strange being wanted him to see!
“No! Amaria, I want to play this game! I just had… a weird feeling before you caught me. I probably ran too fast… I’m sorry I wasted it… Let me make it up! Leave me five more minutes and you come to catch me again!”
He hated to lie to her… But what would she think if he told her he wanted to go to the plain because a strange being had told him to, before vanishing like a hallucination? With this option, he could go see what was expecting him there, and still resume the game after he knows. Everyone would be happy with that!
“Mmmh… Seems like my prey already tries to bargain…” She smiled deviously, like she was already devouring him with her eyes. “Makes me want to eat you right now…”
“No!” He reacted before his brain could think.
He shouldn’t have… He knew he shouldn’t have… because he was no ordinary prey for this dragoness… She only preyed on him when he was willing to… And he was always willing. He could already see the doubt in her eyes.
“No… You… You’re playing reluctant? Because it’s quite convincing…” She tried, visibly confused.
He had to keep his motivation a secret… But how could he? He didn’t want her to worry for nothing… And if he didn’t go to the plain, he would never know… He had to be convincing, so she would only see this as a little additional foreplay.
“No, I mean… I really want to offer you a nice catch…” He tried to speak with confidence. “This one was crap! Let’s do it again, I’ll do better this time!”
It wasn’t erasing her doubts… She was softening her gaze, but still he knew she didn’t believe all of it, even if she really looked like she tried. She wanted to believe him, but she always knew when he was lying.
“Please… I really want it to be special…” He tried again, heart torn in self-disgust.
“Okay.”
He raised his head, not believing what he heard. So she did swallow his lies? No… Of course not… Her eyes never lied. Her doubts were still there. She didn’t even take his words as truth for a second. But her smile gave him the reason: She didn’t want him to be a prisoner with her… She gladly allowed him to keep his secrets. She wanted him free.
“Really?”
She removed her paws from him and helped him sit. As soon as he was at her head level, she leaned on him to put her scaly lips on his, rubbing softly. And he gladly returned the kiss to the being who loved him enough to go against her instincts.
“My human… Of course I can chase you again, of course I allow you to go…” She spoke tenderly. “I do because I know that no matter what, you’ll always come back to me. You may have your reasons, your own desires, and I respect it. Being my servant is just a role to play, a game between us. But I’m no owner, and especially not yours. I’m yours, just as much as you’re mine. Never be afraid of asking me favors, but… no more lies, ok? You don’t have to tell me everything, but please, not lies…”
“I’m sorry, my love…” He said, sincerely apologetic. “I… didn’t want you to worry…”
“You worry me more when you lie…” She giggled. “All these games we play together are just a way to be close to each other. But I mean to not be actually scary to you. I love you. And I hope you keep in mind that you’re free to tell me, or not telling me, whatever you want.”
His eyes were tickling. He had hard time not to cry in shame… This dragoness was truly the best lover he could have wished for… And he doubted any human would have been more loving than her when it came to him…
He leaned forward to plant a big kiss on her snout.
“Thank you Amaria… I love you so much…”
“Shhhh… You better not waste your time…” She whispered teasingly, her tongue coming to tickle his ear. “You said you’d offer me a nice catch… And I’m curious if it will really be as satisfying. Because anyway, you know where you’re going…”
He got back to see her predatory face licking her lips, and her paw rubbing her empty belly. He knew he was weird, but damn! He loved when she took the role of the mighty predatory dragon who saw him as a prey!
“You won’t regret it!” He spoke, before running away.
A loud gurgle accompanied his steps, making him smile. This time, he would be good. No, he would be the best prey she ever caught! She deserved it after expressing so much love! He just had to get rid of his misplaced curiosity from an undesirable being interrupting their game and messing with his mind. And after that… he would be all hers, body and soul.
“I hope you know what you’re doing, my human…” Amaria whispered, still full of worries.
After a last slap from a low branch, he finally made it. The plain… but what was there for him? There was nothing at sight… Except maybe…
…the white being, standing a few meters away, looking at him. He ran to it, heart burning in anger.
“You! I hope it was worth it! I had to lie to the one I care the most for!” He spat, panting.
“Yes… sometimes, answers come with personal sacrifice…” The ghost replied in a flat tone. “Tell me… Do you think that suffering is required to experience true happiness?”
“That’s the story of my life…” The young man replied. Then, seeing no reaction, he decided to develop. “I lost my parents. I got rejected by the society. And because I suffered all this, I met the one I’m really happy with. Again, we fought hard to gain our freedom. But here we are, happier than ever…”
“Do you think your happiness is the final matter?”
“To me it is!”
“And what about the rest of the livings?”
“Screw them! They never liked me for who I really am! They sort of tolerated me, when I showed I had something valuable to offer. But that was interest! They saw me like an opportunity, nothing more!”
“You’re talking about the people who judged you, who rejected you. The people who, indeed, don’t deserve your mercy.”
“Then who are you talking about?”
“Like I said. The rest of the livings.” The white shadow came closer, with a serious look in its eyes, only human-like part in his body. “Those who are innocent. Those who never did anything to harm anyone. Those who aren’t even born yet. If you had to sacrifice things for them, would you?”
“I… don’t see why I should…”
“Of course you don’t. It’s not in the human’s nature to do good for perfect strangers if it costs them. But sometimes, it is necessary…”
“Wait…” The young man said, stepping back. “Are you saying you expect me to do that sacrifice? And what is it anyway?”
“It’s you. All you are, all you cherish. You must relinquish it.” The ghost said like it was nothing. “All you’ve been, all you accomplished… gone… So the world can be cured…”
This time, fear started to grow in him. This creature talked like a fanatic… And he knew enough about fanatics to be frightened. People who did believe they acted for the greatest god were the most dangerous ones! He knew it too well, from the only time he ever killed!
“That’s madness! There’s no way I’ll do such a thing!”
“Empathy is the key. That’s what dragons have learnt over centuries. But humans never got over their nature… It’s time for you to be one of the biggest parts of history. You will be known forever…”
“I don’t want to be known! Nobody even knows my name! I purposely hid it so I could be no one! You hear me?!” He said with all his rage. “No one alive knows my name!”
“And nobody ever will. That’s why you’ll be known as the nameless warrior… Forgive me…”
The being raised a hand, hovering closer to him. He tried to deviate it, but his arm just when through like he was chasing air. The light hand finally reached his head…
And he felt his brain burn…
She was almost done tracking him. She could smell his scent becoming stronger. He was just over the trees! She could already feel her heart pounding. Hunting was usually fun, but hunting her beloved one was thrilling.
Smiling excitedly, she removed the leaves that covered her sight…
…to see the most horrible thing ever.
In the middle of the plain, her human began to scream, in horrible pain. A strange shape was torturing him! No! This couldn’t happen!
Running faster than ever, she dashed toward them, ready to attack this creature, whatever it was! She leaped on it, her sharp claws eager to rip the flesh of this monster.
But it disappeared just before she reached it, her paws catching nothing but air…
Confused, she still didn’t lose her mind, and reacted fast enough to catch her human before he fell on the grass.
“No! Speak to me!” She screamed in horror, but he didn’t show any sign of life. “Please! Stay with me! Don’t leave me!”
Blood was dropping from his ears. No, this couldn’t happen! Before she could think, she instinctively bit him on the chest. It was the only way her body remembered to help him. Her venom was a cure to him. She had healed him like this before, this had to work!
“Please… don’t be dead…” She cried, hugging him against her head. “Anything but don’t die…”
For seconds, she kept sobbing on his little body empty of any life… No… He couldn’t… She couldn’t lose him… not like this… not now… They still had a lot to share, she wanted to grow old with him… She wanted to make him happier each day, forever… But they couldn’t! He was gone!
But then, she felt something… Something weak, but something. Like a timid beat, coming from his chest… His heart!
She delicately put him down, and leaned to listen to it. Yes, it was there! His heart was still beating! He was alive! And the rhythm slowly came back to a normal pace! She even heard him groan weakly. It was a breath!
But it was no time for rejoicing. He was still hurt! What could she do more?! If only she had spent more time to know how his body worked, instead of using it! No, guilt wouldn’t save him either! She had to think… think!
How could she heal a human, without any knowledge about it? She couldn’t…
But maybe some others could…
She glanced at the forest… Over it, far away… was the human city they had run away… The city they had been hiding from for a year… and it probably was her only hope… Humans would know how to save him!
She looked down at his unconscious body. He could have looked like he was sleeping, if it wasn’t that horrible suffering face, and the drops of blood that had almost stopped coming out his ears… There would be troubles… This would probably mean the end of their freedom…
But what freedom was worth living if he wasn’t here anymore? No… For him, she would sacrifice everything. And she would live in pain for the rest of her life if it meant that he could survive…
“Careful, my human…” She whispered, tears blurring her vision as she delicately picked him up and installed him on her back. “I’m here… And I won’t give up on you… You’ll be fine soon… I promise. I’ll always be there… as long as you live… I’m going to save you…”
As she started walking, crying silently, the most heartbreaking thing was that she didn’t even feel his smile to answer her words…
