I am in love with this one, he lives on my shelf right now instead of being packed away, guarding over my desk. He was a show piece for Anime North, and definitely one of the most involved things I did for that con. He's got a full armature inside to support his weight and keep him upright, and balance was something else I had to work at. I wanted to keep the pose as true to the owl species as I could get, so standing up straight, scoping the area, trying to look fierce but also a little wigged out with his tail fuffed up high and alert.

There's no paint on this little guy, just straight up clay, carefully applied and blended as necessary. I was surprised I got to take him home after how quickly the barn owl griffin sold last year, but no regrets, just means I get to actually enjoy him for a few more weeks.
