the tufts were already on the base and most of the shading is also already on the bases. I just do everything in grey scale first to make sure it all matches, and then i fix the brightness and contrast because the original bases are SUPER dark and i don't like that. x.x so i fix them to make the colors pop. :D
honestly you could learn most of the basics from tutorials and videos online. x.x I basically threw away 63 thousand dollars. :| the original reason i went to Ai was for Animation and Media arts.. and they told me that traditional animation was dying (this back in 2003) and everyone was moving to 3d animation. and I was not interested in that. so i changed my major twice over 3 years and at the end they told me that i was better off dropping out and just using the skills i learned to build a portfolio since thats all people care about anyway. No one cares about an art degree.. :| This is was the HEAD of the school at the time told me.. so i was heartbroken and didn't even draw again until 8 years later. when i signed up for this site.
Aww that's aweful T^T I'm so sorry you had to deal with that poop.
Yea i'm hearing it a lot now, that art degrees are kinda useless. My friend went to art college and graduated and keeps telling me I'm better than 90% of his graduating class was. @^@ Now i'm not one to compare art styles or anything, obviously. It's just, people can graduate without showing much promise and I guess i always saw art school as being a place where you are forced to grow and express yourself and step out of your comfort zone but now it just seems like they let people slide through the whole thing so long as they draw what they are told. (or sew or sculpt etc)
I've been watching stuff online too, so that I can learn and grow and it's kinda how i got to where i am now X3
