Or half of it, anyway. The building is south-facing here, so I'm thinking strongly
about adding to the stockpile of solar hardware. Specifically solar thermal, so I
may be getting into welding after all. And pipefitting.
On the other paw, this long a roof means a killer snowload during the winter. Last
thing to build: A set of stairs to get up onto the roof so I can shovel it off.

Snowload is severe around here, but not that big a concern. My house has the
same style of low-angle, long back roof, and in fifteen years I've had to go up and
shovel it perhaps three times. Which, due to the low angle, is a pretty safe
operation.
What I'm more interested in is the possibility of planting solar gear on top. And
being able to get up at it and maintain it. That's a bit of a challenge on the house.
Easier here.
Solar electrons: Got lots. Solar heating: Ah, that's the nut to crack. This
isn't going to stay a woodshed. I hope. Irony? My Dad's specialty as an engineer:
HVAC.
Talk about following in footpaws, hmmm? :- )
