Laughed to this. Yeah... it's a tank but what the hell is it? A main battle tank? Can't be, it has no turret. An assault gun? Can't be, it's designed equally to attack and defence. Man, the Swedish are weird. Now, don't understand me wrong, the "S-tank" is very interesting and ingenious concept, I know very much about it because it's unorthodox designes have made me interested about it before and I know nobody can't really claim it couldn't be classified as a main battle tank, the tank proved it in the field tests. But man, it is just so weird in appearance and functionality.
Great picture, thank you for sharing it, it's a real gem. And that angle. Many who thought they knew armor will be gawging their eyes out. "What the hell is that thing?" Good camera work. Absolutely great piece of photography.

Yeah, the Swedes thought that the thick forests would make the turret unusable anyway, additionally the lack of turret made the tank's profile as low as possible, minimizing the amount of vertical armor. Tank hunter. Yeah, that's a possible view to see it and a very valid view, I can't really disagree. Although, as I have served in the armored forces in the Finnish Army and I have been taught the way of the armored warfare, I still have difficulties to fit "S-tank" into that template. As I have read the stats of the tank and read raports and articles about it and saw a few videos, I dare to claim that that tank is as fit to a main battle tank as it is fit to a tank hunter. Of course it's obsolete now. I know the history of Stridsvagn 103, I know how the Swedes intented it to be used, but still, I have to wander when I see it. Very unorthodox design.
Sorry for the long reply, but I saw it better to explain myself properly. Just a little ramblings from an armor nut. And great to see there are people who are aware of the more unusual and rarer pieces of armor there is in the world.
