Alright, first upload in a while! These next two were both taken during an overnight backpacking trip I did with a co-worker over the weekend. Was a nice 11k romp that followed the lakes shoreline for the majority of it and so it was good, flat terrain.
The trail we followed, as well as the campsite we stayed at, has been used by humans for tens of thousands of years. First nations peoples would use it to get into the rockies from the plains, and the first european explorers in the area also used it as an access corridor.
If you look carefully, you can see some of the faces in the mountain. My friend, who worked as a guide in the area for a number of years, said that if the spirit man, as they called one of the faces, was out that day then that was good luck. (He's a bit hidden in this picture, but you can still make him out :3)
Well, it seems lots of good luck was promised since the spirit man was in fact out, and we saw way more wildlife than you'd ever expect to see. Including a bald eagle and a mama bear with a cub. Hopefully it's a good omen for the rest of the season!
