Pretty sure it's official now! There was a Kotaku article explaining why it's taken so long, and it all just boils down to the technology not being there by the time six or seven years ago, plus Ueda having left the company and was much of the visionary of the then-Project Trico (he's still on staff for The Last Guardian though, apparently). Since we have a release date for next year, it's safe to say that we'll see the cute catbirddog. :)
You know I just saw the trailer for it on a friend's page and I was like "huh, I feel like I've seen this character before. Didn't that game come out a while ago?" Needless to say I haven't been very in with gaming culture for a few years now so now I understand why it seemed like it was old even though it was new.
