They don't need to swallow this stuff. Just keep it in mouth to mix it with flamable liquid.
Out of this list, copper and strontium should not be put in mouth. Lithium chloride can be replaced with carbonate, which is a once-popular antipsychotic drug (i.e. dangerous if you swallow too much, but otherwise safe). The problem with sodium is that it's present everywhere (including saliva) and it's relatively bright. Thus sodium yellow will hide other colours, especially potassium blue.
This leaves boric acid the best colourer, if you don't like the natural orange.
