Love these things, they tend to be quite hilarious. So I decided to make one of my own.
Based on a joke from Cracked.com. And this very thing happens a little too often in video games. Whether it's a crowbar, wrench, small useless knife, a 2x4, a sharpened stick, a bone, etc. etc.

5. Huge Ass Crate (and no warehouse or pallet or even forklift for miles around and how can this even FIT in your tiny backpack I might add ? )

I guess a possible excuse is this is probably the only weapon Barney could recover from Black Mesa. I mean G-Man took at least most of Gordon's weapons.
Then again, you could argue he could've just grabbed some other guns that Gordon didn't pick up like the many copies of M16s, tau canons, gauss guns, grenades, pistols and other stuff that were lying around the facility. Also he could've gave Gordon some of the Combine weapons.
I guess Valve didn't know any other way to present the weapons to the player.
Also I want Half Life 3.
