I'm very happy to announce that I will be the guest of honor at Rusfurence next year!

This is the first of a few pieces I'll be doing for the convention. The idea was to make a film noir like setting with just a bit of color. The car and gun are heavily referenced of course and I drew myself tons of guidelines of perspective in photoshop for the background. What a pain in the ass, but I'm pretty happy, I don't usually dabble in drawing architecture much!

Curiously enough, I surfed to the RusFURence homepage today from the link provided on the EF21 website - and saw this as their home page background, about 6 hours prior to you posting it here (the front page didn't say who the artist was at that time).
It is nicely done, and conveys a mood immediately and effectively.
I am intensely curious to see just what sort of vision the russian furs have of Chicago during the "Roaring 20's"/Prohibition era. Remember, this was also the Jazz Age, the time of Gatsby.
...And I am also wondering what sort of welcome American furry fans would likely receive if they were to travel to Moskva, the tensions of the times being what they are.

I can't speak for them directly but my guess is they'd be welcoming! I think a lot of folks in the fandom's politics are probably not those of their leaders (or what Western media wants to portray, maybe). But I have not been to Russia since I was a child so my understanding is limited, I might be way off? If any Russians read this, feel free to expand upon this.
Potential awkwardness aside, I can say that the exchange rate is great for visiting at the moment... XD
