How about a gender-bent Bayonetta and one demon-slayer Dante getting it on?

Its not badly drawn so much as.. lets say adaptive but as this was in the era where the sprits and the character art could differ so much I won't decry much.
Sabin is a lot more... well effete than I'd imagine.
I do wonder why he'd want to leave Sabin and Gau. And of course the usual slash issue of 'hey wasn't he married' I mean not like I KNOW a man can be married and gay and later in life. More it seems his wife and child were really loved and missed and a big fucking deal. He even ended up misleading a woman as a sort of way to fix or work out his own issue there.
Sigh
Ahem, its very romantic, the costume design and composition give everything a nice feel while the size and so on make things feel right. Just, understandably, unusual for the characters involved. Though you rightly include a nice posture for Cyan, it feels just stiff but expressive enough. You can feel this is post his loosening up but also characteristically him.
the v neck opening does seem more.. well virile and presenting than I'd expect from him, guess Sabin or Edgar rubbed off on him before they left.
You are right, perhaps its best just to let this hang, but if you want to revisit the general outline of this scenario, from Sabin and Cyan with their special needs son, to anniversaries of unity and even death, to even how they'll spend their future (reclaiming the poisoned kingdom? arranging the estate, dealing with the loss of magic)
I also wonder what made Sabin choose domesticity, as an enormous part of his own story is choosing freedom and his martial arts, of which he is the heir over his kingdom.
Oh well like I said that all means its a good sequeence, feels right, opens questions but in a way that makes the change proposed accepted, you want more but things are resolved as is.
While you've done romantic and interactive scenes before, this feels on another level and style and if not this sequence more general oh stuff like this could be nice.
I'm mainly thinking how Rowling did Potter and NOW does these rather adult crime novels. You can see the influences her expressed in both but each is different and distinct but has signs of the same or similar talents. I like this side of your work and hope to see it as its own thing in ways again. And not just 'fanfiction' aspect either.

There are hints that Sabin has a 'soft' side throughout FF6, as Edgar comments on Sabin's favorite "Flowers, tea, and dishes", as though he expressed enough of a love of those things that Edgar can still recall, years later, what Sabin's favorite varieties are.
Cyan enjoys the very masculine past-time of handcrafting silk flowers, and while the loss of his family certainly was a 'big fucking deal', those are old bones he has taken great pains to bury, and he has rebuffed the advances of women since.
They are both protective of Gau, Sabin especially so. I do not think that raising Gau constitutes anything akin to domestic life, or that Sabin would slip into lazy patterns. Sabin is probably teaching him (or attempting to teach him) Duncan's martial arts as well.
The characters' canon sexualities are neither here nor there, but neither of them are in a situation where having a relationship would be impossible, or would make them uncharacteristically douchebaggy.
If you must know my thought process behind this, since Sabin is one of only a few people remaining who actually has leave and authority to have retainers, and to offer any sort of official position as a retainer to Cyan, I imagine that he did. Cyan wanted to take some time to think about it, probably to decide whether it was worth attempting (or even possible) to re-establish Doma or not, so he fucked off. Sabin eventually got tired of waiting and summoned him back.
I do not imagine that they have a pre-existing physical relationship, but rather that Sabin has brought it up jokingly a few times, and that each time he mentions it, it's a little bit less of a joke.
I dressed them both more lightly as a nod to living in less-troubled times, so no armour and no gi. I was considering having Terra sharing tea with Sabin, dressed as a schoolmarm, having established a one-room schoolhouse in the still-being-rebuilt Mobliz. She did, after all, have what one would assume would be a thorough military education.

Sorry if I came off as hostile
Hmm neat, its fun the ideas people make up and how you can express them. Makes sense the scene is just between them. Surprised nothing physical has happened.
And you are right its not too douchebaggy for them to pursue or something to blossom. Heh, its not that I can't imagine Cyan being more delicate or fancy more I can't imagine him being sexy or fashionable. Great design, wouldn't change it but its one of thoseuhm... how do I put it
how many people do you know go to bed with makeup or perfectly matched underwear?
How many characters on TV seem to do just that?
That sort of thing with Cyan, he's looking hot and I imagine he couldn't pull that off without help.
Hmm, true, just going from mountain training martial artist to guy with teapot under umbrella in fancy asian dress and asking his man back home with a letter while serving just made me think settling down. But the idea of him trying to make Gau a martial artist is neat.
Also in a 'yep this is sexy but different and for my/your pleasure" like the above mentioned dress is sabin's beard which works well, making time has passed, he seems older and ... pleasant. I particularly like what you do with the expressions, again with body and face.
