Endless Realms bestiary - Snow Raptor
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
Another arctic beastie. We have a Sand Raptor already, so here's its "polar" opposite! :V I was mostly inpired by snowy owls for this guy - I love his fluffy pillow-feet ;_; <3

This is another awesome creature. I just saw Jurassic World and this raptor would fit right on in (excluding the tropical climate of course). Running into these pack hunters would be like walking into a death trap, as they run around and play with you. I'm going to name this one Blue xD Another great piece of art
*chuckles* Amusingly enough, there's a part in Jurassic World where the head scientist gets in an argument with the owner, and he (actually quite subtly) explains that their dinosaurs are an entirely unnatural product, due to having to artificially splice in a number of other sequences from a variety of other creatures in order to fill in gaps and fulfill park needs (eg. to grow faster, or have different dietary needs - in the book, all the dinosaurs are engineered with a lysine deficiency), and that real dinosaurs would look a great deal differently...
... ie. why velociraptor is 200% bigger and why none of their dinosaurs have feathers.

Well damn..... I haven't played in years. Maybe I need to take another look at the game if all of that's available now. I suspect I'd very much like to see your Skyrim world
Do you happen to know if there's any Clannfear summons or companions yet? That, and a friendly dragon mod, and I'd reinstall Skyrim and all it's mods and start all over. Last I checked though, there were like 10000 dragon mods that make them meaner and more dangerous mindless THINGS that are very anxious to end their immortality, and zero dragon mods that made them more likable.

I'm not sure, you'd have to take a look.
Also, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too hard to go in and mod things yourself, at least in a minor way. I don't think it'd be too complicated to change all the dragon AI settings to friendly rather than hostile, for instance. And I know there's a were-dragon mod, and a were-cat mod, replacing the werewolf. I don't know about the clannfear stuff, I haven't seen any around, but then I've never looked :b
But yeah, the pet mod I have basically is a spell that clones any creature you come across, and makes miniature noncombat friendly versions that can act as simple companions, or that you can place around your home(s). It DOES work on dragons, but has serious pathing issues. When the spell clones the creature and makes the mini-pet version, the game THINKS it's still full-sized, so you have a teeny adorable dragon who can't walk around your house because it's stuck on all the furniture and walls :b This was a few years back - maybe the modder has fixed it since then.

You're getting me interested in playing that game again. I'm pretty sure I'll just install it soon and try to sift thought the thousands of mods for some goodies.
I had an interesting companion mod for.... Oblivion? I don't think it was Skyrim. It was a tiger, and he was male. Very, genuinely male. I was quite pleased to see someone had bothered to make a complete animal in CGI, in stead of just most of it.('King' Aslan was a particularly blatant example of this failure) The only real problem is that he was just too powerful. I don't suppose you've noticed any Smilodon mods of this sort?

A prominently "male" one? No, afraid not, although I've seen "anatomically correct" Argonians/Khajiits, with sheaths/slits instead of just the same human bits stuck on.
Oh, it's a fairly simple matter to go in and tweak the numbers on your companions if you find them too overpowered (or not powerful enough), so you could probably fix that yourself with a little effort.
Tweaking numbers or doing skin modifications is actually fairly simple, but anything involving actually changing the skeleton/3D model of a thing is more intensive, and requires, well, having 3D modelling programs, which I don't :b

lol, I'm weird that way. I'm not necessarily like that all the time with everything, but I'm definitely like that with certain things :b
In a similar super random way that I think maaaayybe you'd appreciate? I'd always suuuuper loved this sprite and running animation from the old Lost World PSX game... http://sta.sh/06hwgxibnjn I used to stare at it as a kid and be all "He's so beautiful and ferocious, look how keen and hungry he looks :DDD" <333 I couldn't find it for the longest time until my husband tracked it down for me, haha. Now it's safely saved onto my hard drive :b

*chuckles* I'd figure you'd like it ;)
No, I actually haven't tried any of the Farcry games, nor do I actually know really anything about them, but I'd probably enjoy 'em! Just haven't had access to our consoles since we've been moving about a bunch the past few years, and I have a laptop which isn't really up for serious gaming, so haven't really had a chance!

I don't think it was hugely demanding, actually. My 10 year old PC ran it like a champ. But I loved the way those blood dragons moved. Rested, slept, prowled, killed bad guys..... and I always ran rather than fight them. Some parallels there

Besides another Farcry?
The series is known for natural, open FPSs with a stealth element that actually really works. The environment on Blood Dragon is far more quick and dirty then the normal series, stealth is less critical, and you're tougher. It's a bit of a departure, but you still notice a hint of the series in this game.
I suppose if I had to pick a game it was closest to, UT04 is the best match I can think of off hand.

lol, another series of games I never played :b
I love stealth games, but FPS games always scared me (lol).
I was a super sensitive (ie wimpy) kid growing up under a fairly conservative mother (you know, the kind that feels you should never tell/expose kids about bad things because it'll taint them somehow, meaning bad things are all the more appalling when you DO encounter them), but one time my older sister was baby-sitting me and took me out to a party where some guys were playing computer games - one of them was Wolfenstein 3D, which was super traumatizing XD I super-immerse in games, especially first person ones, so seeing "my face" get shot up and start bleeding from the eyes from killer mutant robot nazi attacks was scary enough as a sheltered seven year old that it sort of put me off FPS forever XD
I've gotten better, but yeah, I still can't play Bioshock, for instance. I've seen the game played through so many times I know the intro practically by heart, but I STILL can't actually play it >_> I mean, I can kind of "turn off" my connection to the game so it's not scary, but then it's not really fun, either :b Depends on the kind of FPS it is - playing Gears of War and Battlefield with friends was just fine, for instance!

UT04 is one of the finest multiplayer games ever created. Get a LAN full of furries together and start up UT04 on Invasion?...... just awesome fun. So many awesome player models too. I liked the raptor a lot, though I actually favored one of the defaults most of all, a very sexy alien race that had somewhat saurian features. Very fast and athletic.
So majestic and maybe with a high enough animal affinity someone CAN tame a pack of these. Because pencil and paper games let you do awesome things like have a raptor pack and no one will bat an eye. Then you can get your friends together and form a band of raptor banditos to roam the snowy wastes.
