What is an Art Trade?
I have created this to help anyone who doesn't know what an art trade is.
A lot of my friends are just starting to get into the art world, and I think it
would be beneficial if I made a visual comic to teach them rather than keep
typing it over and over again.
Art trades do not have to be Visual art only trades.
Examples: Art <--> Art | Art <--> Story | Story <--> Story (Etc etc)
Also, some artists have rules for their art trades.
Make sure you read an Artist's Trade rules if they have any.

That's why I wrote in the description that some artists have rules.
This comic is for the basic understanding of art trades,
not to emphasize the many rules that some artists have for trades.
That specific thing always bothered me about some artists and art trades, though.
Artists kinda branch out into their art style, so I never liked the thought of
measuring one artist to another in such a way. It's kinda of puts off the impression
that the artist can be very judgmental... and it's uncomfortable.

though, to be fair. it's not ok for one person to ask for a fully done up piece that would take hours, then turn around and draw some crappy stick-figure, scribbled on notebook paper for their end. trades are more than swapping art. it should be near as equal as possible in that a colored piece for a colored piece sort of thing.
..I am uneasy about art trades; partially because my art isn't as good as the art of those I see asking for and/or offering art trades, and partially because I've had terrible luck in the past and I'm still waiting on the other person, whom I haven't heard from in over a year. But it's nice to see such a good description of what art trades are! Simple, yet thorough! :3
There are plenty of artists who draw for the fun of trades
more so than getting decent art for it. They are harder to find at times.
I go into a trade for the sake of drawing more so than getting art.
I know some people who do art trades will show WIPS before they
continue any further with the trade to make sure both parties are drawing
as a reassurance, then post the images at the same time once they're both done.

Yeah, I should've thought more about it back then, but I didn't know as much about these things as I do now, sadly.

If I was to do an art trade with you, I'd be ripping you off, considering how much better your art is!
