This is my little personal reflection about my A-Z Art Challenge. Originally my motive was to get out of my comfort zone and practice drawing species other than my own cobra self (which failed when I draw myself for ‘C”). :P And I decided to draw a panel of each piece using Sharpies since I wanted to see how it's like. These were silly sketches too so I thought hey why not? :3
A. I was a novice artist attempting to draw an alligator realistically, but it wasn’t quite possible with my skills back then. And this is back when I was using a Kindle Fire and Doodledroid to make my drawings.
B. I kind of did a blue jay for a friend of mines. He’s an avian who doesn’t really have a feather-sona I think, but he really likes birds and he especially loves blue jays. Part of me is a bit proud of this drawing, but yeah it could be better. :3
C. Cezary the cobra. I cheated. :P Moving on!
D. Wings are just hard to draw and I think I remember using the undo button several, several times… but I think it looks fine the way it is.
E. An electric ray! Drawing the front of the ray was tough since it could be easily mistaken for another fish since I wasn’t good at shading just yet. Making the front body a bit wavy helped make it more distinguishable. :3
F. A poison dart frog! I started to experiment a bit with using PhotoFiltre to do the coloring and layering. Outlines were still too bold but I think I kind of like this drawing.
G. I attempted a grasshopper and… well… this was the first time I was legitimately not liking my drawing and I think it went straight to my stash in a matter of minutes. I think in retrospect, I could do this drawing better in pencil.
H. It’s a very cartoony version of my human self! :P
I. Hmm, I’m not too impressed with my attempt at this iguana.
J. I wasn’t sure about adding eyes on a jellyfish, so I got creative and added blushing. And a heart! <3
K. Mmm, I guess the kangaroo could be better.
L. … yeah, I guess the lobster could have been drawn better. I think I really started to doubt my drawings at this point.
M. Oh yes, the elusive mongoose that beat me up and took my scarf… If I have to be honest, it was a bit of vent art. I think in the middle of the art challenge, I grew frustrated and began to doubt my own artistic ability. This little subplot never got resolved so I guess the mongoose got away with my scarf. Well, at least I got plenty of scarves. :P
N. A newt that was concerned about me since I wasn't feeling better quite yet.
O. A owl snatches me up as if things couldn’t get worse. Yeah… around here, the art challenge came to a halt. I made a little comic where I go into a depressive mood… and the owl decides to give me a comforting owl hug. :3 I returned a friendly snake hug and decided to move on from there!
