It is interesting how the Wonderbolts in my Equestria dreamscape are very different from the TV series version. Much more professional, much more competent, and definitely much more of a role model for the population.

That's something that really bugs me about the show's representation. They are supposed to be a part of the military even in canon, so they should be much more professional and competent, and have combat training from the start. Hell, I'd even say there'd be a team within the Wonderbolts specifically for special ops.

All the military personnel in the show appear completely inept, and it's really frustrating.

In my dreamscape you have to first enlist in the Royal Equestria Military Forces. Then once you've finished Basic Training then you have to apply to join the Royal Guard. If you are accepted into the Royal Guard then and only then you can 'begin' the process of applying to become a Wonderbolt.

And even if your request is accepted then have a year of training until you are considered eligible to put into the rotation pool of candidates. However you may not actually perform at events for another year or so as you become familiar with it means to be a Wonderbolt. In fact for your first year you're not much more than a fancy roadie.

From a writing standpoint, I can understand it. (See the TV Trope "The Worf Effect".) But there really needs to be a bit more lip-service (and more) to their abilities.

You'd think it would be possible to show that the Guard and Wonderbolts in-show do handle many problems -- but some are so complicated, or big, or powerful that the Mane Six have to be asked to help.

Or urgent, or specialized (which is a little less believable). At the very least have the Guard appearing to do the "clean up" or making the Mane Six's "delay" enough.

I just cant help but hear Captain Oveur quotes coming out of Spitfire's mouth.

I can hear that mental voice right now "Oh My Gosh!< Oh My Gosh, Gosh!"
