This is a piece from back around 2007 or so. It's quite amazing that it's been this long since I started composing. The recording is almost equally as old. At the time, I was doing my undergrad in LA for composing. I drew inspiration from seeing the occasional deer up in the Sierra Madre Mountains. I think that was the first time I had grown an appreciation for their beauty as animals. Then this piece came along, and came together wonderfully.

they were a fairly common sight where i lived growing up. yes i think this does depict them fairly well.
i always used to wonder how they all didn't end up breaking their legs. they just jump over anything and everything so completely like they don't even have to think about it at all.
