Mortality and immortality.
The eternal curse. And the one point where organic intelligence fails just as badly as their artificial counterparts.
In the face of mortality, too many organic intelligences give up. Unable to accept and to live with it, they rationalize death as right. They start craving it. They become consumed in dreams and illusions because they do not want to acdept that the world simply isn't perfect and that they are faced with an incomfortable flaw of their species.
They do not want to realize that the uncaring randomness of Nature has made them inherently flawed and defective, as their organic cells' process result in self-destruction and an unability to cope with the wear and tear of time's passage.
This machine is facing an ironically very organic dilemna. Life is temporary due to wear and tear and the unability of a body to continue functionning. And it has tasted the bitter taste of sorrow. And like too many organics, the taste has shocked it so much that it give hints of being defined by it, of coming to the same ugly, repulsive solution that so many organic intelligences come to: That life is not worth living, that happiness is fleeting but sorrow eternal, and that the only way to evade sorrow is to die before it overcome you.
It is my wish that this fledging intelligence will be exposed to an organic intelligence who does not think like that. That it may be a VI is not important at this point ; it has reached a point where the jump to life, if not already done, is so close yet so far. An incorrect anwser may cause the machine mind to crash down back to nothing...
