Reprogramming Yin was actually more work than Nexus anticipated. He's managed to reach the basic systems like rudimentary cognative function and the simple motor functions but repeatedly hit against brick walls. Everything seemed to be controlled by the central core, which had sealed itself off from access after Yin's "death" at Nexus' hands. It required several access codes, it seemed, and all of Nexus' most specialised hacking tools had manage to crack one code after a month of constant running.
Or at least, the equivilent of a month's constant running. He couldn't afford to wear them out like that.
So he decided to head back to the laboratory where he had first found her and see if he could get anything more out of the computers.
This was one time Nexus wished a cliche would come true for him. If this was anyone else, they'd stumble across the most important file detailing the scientist's inner most thoughts and reservations almost instantly, but not for him. Oh no, his job would have to take much longer. 9 days, to be specific.
The information was nothing less than a shock. He could scarecely credit what he was seeing on the monitor, but it made sense. He copied the data he needed and headed back to his hideout, fearful of what this news may bring.
Keisha and Becky didn't see him for several days as he toiled unrestingly on getting Yin operational.
Finally it was done. He replaced the central chest panel and began the boot up process. The scientists had preserved the body of one of the greatest warriors of the old world, one killed in the first uprising against Robotnik, the uprising that killed almost all of Mobius' best fighters, leaving the few remaining to start the freedom fighters and desperately train new blood. Many lost that day were beyond saving, others were sbjected to scientific experimentation, some were simply robotisized. But one was given to Project Yin.
The robot's eyes flickered on and gazed numbly towards the ceiling. After a few seconds she tilted her head to one side and looked up at the echidna who had repaired her.
"...Nexus?"
Nexus nodded replied in a level tone. "Hello...Mother."
I'm probably going to flesh this story out at some point, assuming anyone cares. But yes, that's the long and short of it, Yin turned out to be Nexus' mother. Her mind was comitted to data and stored in the indestructable core of the robot Yin.
Of course, Nexus had to remodel her. It's kinda wrong to have your echidna mother trapped in a robotic hedgehog body. So this is the new design for Yin.
This all came about because, while I like Yin, she was a completely soulless, empty character I couldn't do anything with. Now, the possibilities are endless =)
Special thanks go to
angelbreed for giving me the idea of a schematic style computer screen for a background. I was just gonna leave it white XD
The boxes of text say nothing, but the 4 small lines do say something. Whoever figures it out wins my unending scorn >=O
Hope you like the picture, and thanks for reading all this crap (assuming you did, no offense taken if you didn't)

i love a challenge so i tired to decipher those four small lines (ones not in boxes) the '?' are symbols i had no clue at, but this is what i think the lines read
1.7h3y 5t1lL 50_oD 75 oGM 5
2.1GY 7m(SS __on ???1? ??Q ?n;|\|
3.7*5_ \/\/5oo7 v|_|ST looY L15Z
4.I7 o?I 1N v__? E\/5, IL y_DE 5*55
looks like it's 1337 to me, so are any of them at all even slightly correct?

pffft man your writing skills are something else....XD And who woulda thought I'd see Nexus' mom.... like this? XD; wow very interesting concept. Art wise, nice job with the color as usual, the lineart is very interesting XD and the shading seems to make the picture look prettier for some reason XD Ahhh maybe it's just me
Believe it or not, the line art is simply black.
The colours are a visual effect placed on top =3
Glad you liked the story too. I was gonna write some long-ass proper story, and then put this picture up.
2 things stopped me.
1) No-one reads my stories anyway.
2) Didn't wanna wait to upload this XD
