The news of Doug Winger's passing has gotten me thinking about other furry artists who are no longer with us. Some are no longer here by choice (they just stopped drawing furry artwork), but some actually have passed away. We're still a young fandom compared to Science Fiction or Comic fandom, but even here, we have lost people before their time. Newer fans may know some of the names, like Jim Hardiman, but how many would recognize names like Deal Whitley, who died in 1992? This post is to share the artwork of Mark Wallace, AKA Lord William Blackfox. He drew an anthropomorphic comic strip (The Kingdom of Warthaven) for newsletters of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronisms), and passed away in 1997. Here we have him as his namesake character, battling in the great Pennsic War. I sent my sketchbook with someone to Pennsic (the annual SCA meeting) to get these done.
