Had some birds when I was little... Wellensittiche their called in german, don't know their english names... crazy little critters... we had 4 of them. Every time you tried to clean their cage, they would try to rip your fingers apart :) ... they deffended their home against all and everything...

I know how tame they can be ... but those we had... they were furies... perhaps because they should have been breeding pairs...

I've had mean budgies to. Most parakeets from petstores tend to be very timid or aggressive with people because they get so little interaction with them when they are young. It's true for almost any bird. Hand raised birds grow up to like people because of that early imprinting on their minds, as opposed to birds who were raised by their parents. I was fortunate enough to be able to handraise Tiki myself at my work when he was just a tiny baby (before he even had his feathers), so that's the reason we're so close.

I for myself am lucks with my big lazy dog ... sniffin around the house ...
But he would not protect me against nightly ambushes... not in that way... :P

Aww, I'm sure if he really knew you were in trouble he would. I've seen some pretty laid back, dopey dogs come through for their owners when they thought there truly was danger :3

Sure he would... but more because he's jealous like hell ... My girlfriend had a really hard time, till he accepted her... she wasn't able to hug me, when he was around...

I use just a beat up crappy Kodak easyshare camera :3 The pose came out so well because it kind of was timed. Tiki is in the process of being trained to come to me when I call....and he's learning very fast! I wanted a picture of him flying, so I placed him down on his perch across the room, stood back aways, prepared the camera and called to him. Then of course, when he took off into flight over to me, I snapped the shot :3

That is a GREAT shot! Way to go catching him mid flight without blur. :)

It's cool that you can let him just fly around the house too, I have friends with birds, but if they let them fly around they'd fly away or get lost in the house.
