Apparently Farfetch'd was inspired by the Japanese saying "鴨が葱を背負って来る"...or, "a duck comes bearing green onions", which apparently is a way of saying something is surprising yet convenient. So yeah, Farfetch'd probably is caught just to be eaten. Or as a Cut + Fly HM slave. :D
