Long after the temple's followers have died off and the building itself fell into disrepair, the guardian yet remains to watch over his home as it slowly crumbles around him. He is unchanging and steadfast, if a trifle lonely. His solace? A tiny mouse that's taken up residence where once great priests paid homage. He has no care for his grandiose surroundings, nor for the great beast that would make barely a mouthful of him. Fleeting and Eternal, they've made fast friends in this lonely place.

I made this guy shortly after doing that last eastern picture and originally thought to do it up digital, since I haven't buckled down and done a full, shaded picture in a while. Well, ended up changing my mind when I was in my Literature class and just started working in a background for the hell of it and eventually working shading on the whole thing.
Its all in pencil, though I should have used something other than a mechanical. >.>; but its all I have, I don't bother with others since I never shade like this. xD; Smudging is on purpose, so the only real mistake I made was on that forearm where I fudged the inking... ah well.
I'm happy that I got a fairly nice range of tones in here, from very dark belly scales to white skin, without getting too heavy on the shading... except on maybe the floor, which I officially hated half way through doing it. xD PitA like woah. The hair is kinda hit-or-miss for me too... I can't decide if I like it or not, but whatevah.
On a side note... I'm thinking of changing my artist's name to something more... professional? Tried it out on my watermark thing there. Anyone have any ideas? Bluefire seems too short and common, Bluefire Dragonz is hard to verbally convey with that stupid Z, Bluefire Dragons just doesn't strike me... and Bluefire Dragonheart, while the best so far, seems longish.

I don't know... my name kind of sprang into existence, I didn't need to think real hard about it. Bluefire was just a given, its the second name that's giving me fits. I knew I was a dragon from the first moment I turned furry, so having that in my name always seemed natural too. The Dragonz part was a tribute to the old dragonz_luvr name I used to use, but after four years, it feels awkward to change it now... but then, the name has always been awkward to say anyway.
<3 and I'm glad you like the picture.

The shading is top notch here in this picture and I love the expression on the dragon. The amount of detail is amazing.
As for your name, it seems alright like that and it isn't too long, but you have to see for yourself what works. You have to be proud of it of course and it has to stick somehow for you. You're already known greatly as Bluefire, anything that comes to mind that might describe you better?

Oooh, very nice pencil work, as usual. Your shading is always very detailed and smooth, I love it. And the overall detail in the background is pretty great too... I just don't have the patience for that shiz. I dunno how you do it xD Looks really nice! Though I gotta admit, at the first few glances the gem in the middle of it's head looked sorta like a really badly placed eye... but that's just my perception being screwed up, not anything you did wrong, haha. All in all it looks awesome, well done :3
I see the point about the eye thing. xD; Its got a dark center dot then the white shines, so I can see how it would look like an eye. In digital shading, it tends to work, but I can see how it doesn't much work here, lol.
I really didn't set out to do so much shading, but I was in class and I needed something to do with my hands. xD that's the product of four hours of concentrated work. The background isn't really that detailed, considering its just a wall, pillar and the floor xD the floor really killed me though... shading was a bitch on that.
