98% of the folks on a pretty conservative forum I am member of do not care about it or are supportive. "Good for them" is a pretty common resonse.
It's not the marriage thing people are concerned about. It's the "lawyers are making a fortune due to butthurt gays" problem.

i don't really see how you should feel like a black sheep. people are pointing the stupid comments of a few crazies, and they don't really represent your view just because they call themselves conservatives.

See the comment of Abakan :) Most conservatives I know are actually pretty supportive of it. Heck, I know a priest who is happy that it happened, because he feels that all should have the equal chance to love. Plus the whole "bible is against homosexuality" was misinterpreted. It was actually for hygenic reasons I believe, and they twisted that line ^^; The bible says nothing against homosexuality :)

..and to be fair, lunacy is not that rare either. 64% GOP voters think climate change isn't real (Yale), 34% think there is a global conspiracy government - NWO - that rules the world behind closed doors (PPP), 20% think Obama is the Anti-Christ (ppp).. the list goes on.

Just watched it. All I can say, wow... I swear to god, I'm going to lose it if I start seeing T-shirts reading, "Where were you on 6/26?" If these people wanna complain about it being against their religion, fine, I can understand. But when you start using real world examples and tragedies to compare this, you not only lose the argument, but you lose all credibility. Its the equivalent of breaking Godwin's Law.

I'm not gay but it's this was still good news to me because I want humans to have equal rights. There's nothing wrong with it when there are people truly in love and want to get married.

Figured I'd throw my 2 cents in.
I honestly dont care one way or the other. I dont see why people fight so hard to try to ban same-sex marriage and why its such a big topic. We got plenty of other issues to deal with right now that are far more important then 'what gender gets to marry what gender'. I'm hoping this will shut some people up.
However, locally I'm already seeing people trying to take advantage of the system. There was a teacher that got busted some time ago for having sex with a student, which is a big no-no particularly when the student is under aged, but now she has her lawyer going out and saying that they need to throw out the case because, using the language that is used in this bill, they are stating that the government cannot prevent two people from expressing love for each other based on professional relation or age, as its another form of discrimination similar to that based on gender.
Do I think they are right? No, I think they are just trying to take advantage of the system, but all it takes is for people to see this and think 'Oh boy, next thing people will be marrying themselves to horses or trees!' and start the whole damn argument all over again.
