I'm guessing that the overall theme of the comic is that Cinder wants to be with Frost, so he doesn't actually want to find the unicorn.

I can see something to that nature, since they were friends at one point and then Cinder became a pain in the ass in what was probably the typical "I like you so I'm going to bully you" fashion.

I think I know what you mean, but pages 16 and 17 are not the same day, so we can't tell with what they came in with because we don't see them come in.

The phrase originally applied to quitting narcotics before it was generalized into English proper. The symptoms you describe more properly describe withdrawal from narcotics.

Hmm. I would say that being in close contact with a non-virgin makes you lose your ability to see unicorns. But then folks carrying their little kids around in stores or wherever would see the supposedly mythical beasties.

So its more likely that the unicorn just went to go pee.
