yeah this is an otter I was workin on, unfortunatly the topology lead me into a corner, so I had to stop here.

Aw man, why leave it like that? It looks hilarious with that crazy toothless madman stare. But yeah, you really tortured the topology with that one It's a common thing with the sculpt-modellers. Have you tried doing the basic mesh in something else first, and then importing into zBrush for fancify-ing?
Ah Well this was one of my earliest forrays into zbrush. I work with zspheres initally now. this was all made from one initial sphere if I remember correctly. Hence the god awful topology.
As fars that goes, yeah ive done alot of proxy modeling then obj import to better effect, but I do have issue when I export back to maya. Any idea how to mantain/ create the uv map when exporting the textures back to maya?

A familiar story:P The first time i was trying sculpting software (Mudbox, havent really used zBrush), on my first model, "Ratley", the sphere got so stretched on the ears that to get them to smooth right, the rest of the mesh had to look solid on wireframe!:D
