wow those little dudes really are neon pink. i wonder how they use that coloration. like hide in flowers or something?

Y'know, I have been trying to find a straight answer on that for a long time now.
the closest I've gotten is that somehow, the bright colors are a warning sign to most predators. So they just don't get ate.

and the caterpillar form is a ugly little fucker, so nobody wants to eat that either

I like to think of it as nature pulling a fakeout and going
"AW SHIT, I GREW UP TO BE FABULOUS AND THERE'S LITERALLY NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT"

Heh nothing wrong with being fabulous XD though I admit anything that brightly colored in nature I would assume would be poisonous..... Or at least give me a bad trip if I ate it XP

With that coloration, I imagine a straight answer is not forthcoming.
