Car insurance debacle is over so I was able to get a new car. I burned my savings on a down payment as I like shiney things atleast as far as my vehicles go.
My requirements were v6 engine (I tow a boat and I like having a boost in low end torque) and reasonable priced. Atleast if I was going to get something new. There was only one v6 FWD Ford Edge new in the state. I drove it and it felt familiar but they changed the seats and a few other things in the 2015 model that made it not as comfortable or solid feeling when I drove it. Plus I'm still not sold on Keyless ignition.
I did research and started looking at a vehicle that wasn't on my radar the last time I went car shopping and that was the Kia Sorento. v6 FWD was still an uncommon option as people either want something cheap and as fuel economic as possible or they want something loaded with AWD because somehows they are rich as hell and don't care about the price. This class of vehicles is still pushing it for me for what I can afford.
I kinda got screwed on finacing so at some point in the future I'll have to refinance my car loan.
Anyways after test driving the Sorento it was really hard to go back to the Edge when they were the same price. Kia suprised me. Its larger, has more cargo space and an insane amount of leg room. This is the first car ever I've owned that I can't drive with the drivers seat all the way back because it has too much legroom O.o.
Its quiet. It handles better. Its more responsive. It has third row jumpseats which in a pinch may come in handy. It also still has a keyed ignition ( VW switchblade key style)
I had a lot of fun adventures with my Edge but its time to move on and make new adventures with my new road companion :3

Spec wise the Kia Sorento and the Ford Edge in a V6 get the same gas mileage, both have bluetooth standard (its pretty hard not to find that standard now) both had rear backup cameras etc. All the basics I wanted both had. Oddly enough the Ford did not have Satelite Radio - not that was really a deciding factor at all since I enjoy having it for free then its too expensive to keep unless they give me a "deal" on it. What sold me was it handled better and was a bigger vehicle. Having a Keyed ignition helped a little too. So yeah I guess same EPA for a bigger vehicle means its overall more efficient to get that rating.
