This is a new closed species I've cooked up! :D
The idea came from Incira when I bought this creature design from them, and ideas just kept coming to me. <3

Species: Voldryn
Plural- Voldryns
A group of Voldryns are a Flock.
Physical Characteristics:
They are a docile race of omnivores which lean towards herbivorism, unless times are dire. Their teeth are sharp for defense.
They are usually between 2 and 3 meters long, from nose to tail crest. (approx. 6 to 9 feet.)
They can be any color whatsoever, any pattern, but crests and tails are almost always black, in exception to mutations. The same with their false-beak pattern. It is almost always present, either black or a dark shade of the body color. The same goes for their feet markings. They have 3 digits on each foot.
Crests are used in their mating rituals. The male with the most feathers and most PROMINENT feathers is the more desirable.
There is little gender dimorphism. Female's crest feathers tend to be shorter than males, but only by centimeters.
Their tails are used as rudders in flight, and in mating rituals also.
When not in use, their wings wrap tightly around their bodies with little to no seam, thus giving them an appearance of having a blanket wrapped around them, hence the nickname.
Their wings only have one digit, so they may wrap their wings around themselves easier.
Mutations happen VERY rarely, when an embryo is damaged or when genetics screw up.
Social Characteristics:
They are a semi-social species, often living in flocks of up to 20 individuals. They are a fairly intelligent species, showing primitive construction behaviours. They also have bartering systems and a primitive language comprised of squeaks and sqwawks.
Females are the dominant of the species, and due to their competitive nature, they kill each other off and are harder to find than males. They often lead their flocks with a harem of males and several subservient females under her. It is not unheard of to only have one female in the flock.
Females are very choosy about what males to accept into the flock. They must be in the best of shape for her, physically and mentally.
Males are very docile and tend not to cause a ruckus, unless brought up outside of a flock. The Outsiders, as they are called, are unpredictable and often will never be accepted into a flock.
Females are the more aggressive, as they have to engage in fights over territory, males and food. Flocks have a certain radius of territory in a given area, and will defend it to the death. But most flocks tend to coexist peacefully, and almost never have territorial disputes.
They are a very hardy species and will exist anywhere in the world where they can settle in a niche. Their colors tend to correlate with their environments- Forest dwellers will have greens and browns usually, coastal dwellers will have brighter blues and yellows, etc.
Young are cared for by the entire flock, as a sort of communal parental unit. mostly the males take care of them. they do not produce milk, as they have no mammary glands, so they eat regurgitated food until they are a few months old, and then they start eating solids, such as fish and meat and plants. once they reach maturity, they are either cast out of the flock or kept, depending on if the alpha deems them worthy.

AHHH IM REALLY GLAD YOU LIKE IT!!!! I'm totally gonna have south fun with these guys. I've already made a custom. Would you possibly want a custom/MYO since you add the original and stuff? ;w; I have you to thank for this. I adore them!!!
And they're still under construction so there's still more to come!!!
And they're still under construction so there's still more to come!!!
Thanks for reminding me, I should set up a price list on rarity.
A MYO slot is 3$ for all common traits, 4$ for a common and uncommon trait, 5$ for uncommon traits, 6$ for an uncommon and rare, and 7$ for rare traits. 3$+ for any mutations.
However, for a custom drawn by me, tack on 3$ to the prices above. ^^
