Mirari Redesign Test
I've taken to drawing simplified, cartoony versions of characters when I'm redoing them, to get a quick feel for how their new designs and color schemes work (or don't work, whichever the case may be).
So here's Mirari again! This time with something a bit closer to some of her earlier incarnations, but with the addition of a long flowy ponytail as well as a set of weights on her wrists and ankles. The idea being that the weights are really, really heavy, and she throws them off when shit gets real. It's all very anime.

Just a bit further and it becomes a chibi Mirari XD (omg, do a chibi Mathilda, pleeeeeease!!!)
You know, both the hair styles are good! Nothing stops you from jumping from one to another if it fits the pic, actually. People sometimes seem to make characters with immutable outfit, as if clothes were the fundamental part of the design, not the character itself.
The weights' idea remind me a bit of Dragonball (but after all, her setting has that feeling too, as you said)!
(I still prefer the shorter hair, gives a tougher feeling, but that's just me. Strangely, since I love long hair to death XD )

Maybe so! I did have a few other alternate outfits and hairstyles in mind, and her color scheme is pretty easy to design clothing for.
Good point about the shorter hair, though. Well, that, and there's no practical need for the ponytail because she can't see anyway, and it's just another thing for her opponent to grab. :P Actually, I might give Starlight the long flowy hair, it'd suit her a bit better with the whole elegant look she has.
