I'm dealing with this shit right now on eBay.
Someone bought something without reading the description, and when it wasn't what she imagined it to be, she demanded a 50% refund rather than filing a return.
I apologized for not making the item's nature more clear, and offered her a 100% refund if she returned the item, but she continued to demand a 50% refund, calling me a "lyer" and a "theef." She's been sending me 2-3 harassing, very misspelled, insult-filled e-mails a day, continuing to demand a 50% refund and threatening all sorts of things if I don't. She even filed a phony return, where she requested a return but never sent the item back, to try and trick me into giving her a full refund. And she's been reporting every item I have listed for phony policy violations, which means that at any point in time 2/3rds of my store is "under review" by a moderator and thus can't be found in searches.
I get the feeling she's done this a lot, because she's very good at navigating eBay's rules and regulations. She knows she's allowed to be as awful, rude and harassing as she wants so long as she doesn't swear (she's called me a "black" "foreigner" and "sissy", clearly trying to get me to write an angry swearing reply so that she can call the eBay police) or threaten me with bodily harm. I called eBay about it and they refused to do anything but say they'd reverse the negative feedback if she actually gave it, but otherwise she's free to be a little tinpot terrorist.
I'd have given her a partial refund if she'd been polite and less demanding (a few bucks off due to a miscommunication is the price of doing business). But I can't give in to this kind of extortion since it means she'll create new accounts to go after me with and/or tell all her idiot friends I'm good for a shakedown.
