Just a look at my journey through fursona's before I arrived at koala.
I used to be really into rhino's as a kid, I still am, but not in the furry way, I just think they are an awesome animal that has a rough time.
When I first heard of the fandom I thought I'd fit a rabbit, it's the year of my birth and I was also very timid and shy.
Eventually, when I came out and discovered bears, I thought I'd be one of them, but there was already so many on here, I needed something to stand out, and since I am a proud Australian, I chose our closest incarnation of a bear.
I find qualities about each of these animals that I do in myself, but none more so than the koala. We're lazy, drink very little, sleepy during the day, big noses, fuzzy chins and bellies, good climbers, yada yada.
So yeah, a li'l bit o history for ya'll
I'd like to hear (or see) your reasons for choosing your fur too :)

Originally, I drew myself as a kangaroo, the reason for that was because back before I even knew really anything about the fandom, I had an insane boner for Booga from tank girl. Then I found out about all the furry stuff.. and it just sort of happened. I also seriously dig Australian art, and didgeridoo (even though its also in other cultures, I first heard it in Aussie progressive trance)
After a while, I wasn't really happy with the kangaroo fursona, and started experimenting. I was totally into the bears as well, and actually found out more about all that stuff via people I met on this site (I created my account when I was still in the closet with a girlfriend XD), so I went through a few different tests with that, and was pleased with the results. However, I wanted something, a little more unique (symbolism blah blah blah angsty teenager bullshit continues) So I decided on the panda. For one, its colour scheme is totally fucking awesome (I wear black and white a lot) and it's god damn adorable. (Contrary to my assumed popular belief, it was NOT after I heard of kung fu panda that I decided on the panda)
that came out a lot longer than I thought it would....
