After realizing I really did not draw any scenes from my novels involving Harddense, I decided to draw one where he was fighting Mewblade. There was however one I have been trying to draw on and off, and just never got right. So sticking my courage, I decided to actually try this one.
The scene from "Family Matters" starts with Harddense fighting against a trainer's Typhlosion (or "Typhlo" as he calls it) in the Viridian Gym. With both of the original designated fighting Mewthrees either dead, or presumably dead, Harddense unfortunately had to fill that role. He's a pacifist by design and almost incapable of fighting aggressively. He needs shock collars and lots of orders to complete a single fight. He however is one of highest defensive characters, and thus a tank. High stamina, high HP essentially. Even in a fire fight as such, while having to fear being boiled alive from the inside out, it's not exactly daunting. He tends to end up on the floor more out of refusal than shear exhaustion.
Perspective! It's all about the perspective. Trying to do this and not just getting all his butt or his head in the way was hard. I don't like drawing fire, I don't like such poses, and framing a fight scene, one must go for extremes in order to capture dramatic stills. Then the lighting and the fire effects just add to it. By technical definition, this is a quickie, so up close it looks rushed, and the backlighting is lacking. However, it frames super nicely. Arms did a good job of that. Glad to have a nice and proper Harddense image for once.

from the looks of it, you went out of several comfort zones o.o
DAMN was it worth it! total poster/wallpaper material imagery right here, and it blends in with the backstory so perfectly, adrenaline rush, and at the same time, the feeling of defeat, of emotionally worn out
art-wise, it's amazing how every little light lends in to the atmosphere and the shadows complment it as they should, great work!

Mostly just sucking it up and doing it part, and hoping that for once the gesture/pose would work okay enough to be considered 'dramatic'. I'm not good with fight scenes evidently, so posing and playing them out is always a struggle. Everything else-wise, it's straightforward.
