Yet another commission bought for me by CD. This is Gila Monster and his girlfriend Dr. Gwen Smith (Timestopper). Another great pic by Eggplantman!

Here are their vital stats as I use them in my stories:

Names: Gila Monster (that's his real name) and Dr. Gwen Smith (a.k.a. Timestopper)

Species: Reptile and Canine (Standard Poodle)

Height: He's 5' 10", she's around 5' 8"

Weight: He's about 220 lbs., Gwen's not telling her weight!

Age: Gila doesn't know his age, Gwen is 27

Occupation: Gila doesn't have one, Dr. Gwen Smith is a famous scientist

Weapons: Gila carries a sawed off 2 x 4, Timestopper carries no weapons

Powers: Timestopper's powers involve the stoppage of time. She can "freeze" time for up to a minute while being immune from being "frozen" herself. This allows her to freeze time and this freely move until time "unfreezes." Gila Monster's a reptile of many talents. Not only is he very strong, he (as a poisonous beast) is unharmed by any poisons and gases. His skin is so tough it can actually deflect bullets (at closer range, bullets will embed in his
skin). Although this isn't really considered a "power" but often Gila Monster has powerful body odor and very foul smelling breath which can overpower opponents. Since Gila is not very intelligent, his mind cannot be read (nothing in there to read).

Weaknesses: Although Gwen is very smart, She is also inexperienced at superhero work. She often has to improvise solutions rather than plan them through. Gila's main weakness is his lack of intelligence (but at times, he can come up with good ideas). His lack of grasp
of good English and his lack of personal care can offend people quickly. Gila's not exactly a "people person" and his lack of social graces proves embarrassing for Gwen. Gila also does not like to fight with females (even if they are villains). Both Gwen and Gila are not
full time superheroes and as unregistered, they face the same problems most unregistered superheroes face. Gwen's love for Gila borders on insanity, so she is extremely jealous of any female who comes near him. Gila refuses to use firearms or any weapon other than his favorite 2 x 4 (or a reasonable fascimile when necessary).


History: While Gwen was receiving her Ph.D. from Yale, Gila was a common thug living on the mean streets. One day, Gila spotted a frightened teenaged doe who had ran away from home and was quickly surrounded by a dozen gang members. For the first time in his life, Gila had compassion and raced to her rescue, easily beating up all her attackers. Fainting in his strong arms, Gila rushed the frightened doe to the hospital where he discovered the reason she ran away: she was pregnant and scared of what her stern parents would do to her. At the hospital, with Gila by her bedside, the teenaged doe faced her parents and told them the truth. When he saw the fury in their eyes, Gila stepped in and persuaded them to be kind to their daughter. Oddly enough, Gila's speech worked and there was a joyful family reunion. For the first time in his life, he had a friend who wasn't afraid of his ugliness. From that day forward, Gila decided to become a "good guy" and fight crime rather than commit it. One day, Gila was on the trail of a power hungry madfur named Gregor. This
hulking rhino forced many folks to work for him, one of those was a young Gwen Smith. When Gila invaded Gregor's lair and was sprayed with sleep gas, he dediced to "play dead" and allow his henchmen to take him to Gregor. The trick worked as Gila was shackled to a wall
near the part of the lab where Gwen was working. Left alone in the room with her, Gwen sobbed outloud, saying how she was sorry for being blackmailed into working for Gregor and wishing she could escape his reach. When Gila saw his chance, he broke out of his iron
shackles and rushed towards the guards, beating them up. Gwen, seeing her chance to escape, made a run for it but was soon cornered by Gregor. As he pulled the trigger of his pistol, Gila leaped in front of Gwen, taking three shots into his chest as he pushed the scared poodle out of the way before falling to the floor. Gila's mighty push caused Gwen to crash into the huge machine she and her fellow captives were working on, causing a surge of strange energy to shake her body as the odd machine exploded. The huge blast drew the
attention of the police who arrived and arrested Gregor and his henchfurs. When Gwen woke up, she was several blocks away. The blast had sent her and Gila far away from Gregor's lair. When she came to Gila's body, his eyes were closed. Fearing that the huge reptile was dead, she hugged him as she cried. No one in her life had ever sacrificed themselves like that for her. When Gila opened his eyes, it caused Gwen to instantly fall in love with him. She was relieved when Gila opened his leather jacket and picked the three bullets out of his skin. Since that time, Gwen and Gila became lovers. It was later when Gwen discovered the side effects of her encounter with Gregor's machine, the ability to temporarily freeze
time. It was then she made the decision to become a superhero with her new boyfriend by her side. Gwen's job as a lecturing scientist was the perfect cover for her superhero work.

Personality: The two are nearly polar opposites. Gwen is a friendly, clever talker while Gila's main obsessions in life are violence and eating bugs. Although Gila has a very relaxed attitude, he's serious when it comes to his girl (his "Princess") and when it comes to fighting villains. He commonly calls jerks and loudmouths "Gooberoes"
"Dingledorks" and "Dingledoofs." While Gwen has a grand wardrobe, Gila rarely wears anything other than his black leather jacket, jeans and boots. He always carries his 2 x 4 with him, even on formal occassions.
