Grilling on the 4th - with Dog
Just a couple of "interest" shots of the 4th of July Smoker and Grill Surf n Turf Feast.
Top is wuff's grill with a hasty scattering of cooking utensiles and such, as Vrghr frantically tried to stay ahead of the timing on grilling and turning and basting all those shrimp.
You also get the chance to see one of the two doggies wuffy is dog-sitting for a friend this weekend. Paddington came out to keep wuff company, soak up the afternoon sun, and enjoy the wonderful aromas from the grill and smoker on the back porch.
The bottom scene is the addition of the steak. The shrimp take ~5 minutes per side at medium heat. The steak takes no more than 3 minutes total, both sides, at the highest temp the grill can manage. So, once wuff flipped the shrimp to "side two", it was time to add the steak and work it, rotating and flipping on time, while basting the shrimp beside it.
Timing is everything! There are definitely times in the kitchen when wuff wishes he had extra paws, or was twins! EVERYTHING wants to stir, flip, or finish at the same moment, and the final moments of prep can become exceptionally frantic! *grins*
