Here's another one of those colorstudy sheets. I do eventually want to do these in detail as well. This time of Pacific Northwest marine species. These ones you can easily find by jumping off the docks of Seattle into the Puget sound, as well as Vancouver BC or the Oregon coast. This area is said to have the best cold water scuba diving in the world, and many interesting species.
Giant Pacific Octopus. The largest octopus in the world lives in the northwest right next to several major cities.
Dall's Porpoise. A chunky but extremely fast black and white porpoise. Her name is Dolly, and is a recurring character.
Wolf eel. A large yet gentle eel that lives throughout the region.
Harbor seal. They are all over, but can be seen near docks and resting on logs or beaches.
White-lined Dirona nudibranch. One of the local icon species, this pretty nudibranch only lives off the west coast of the US & Canada, especially in Puget sound and Vancouver Island.
Bobtail squid. Also called the stubby squid, this little cephalopod can change dazzling colors in an instant.
Candy striped shrimp. Another local species with a tropical flair despite the colder water habitat.
Canary Rockfish. Only found on the west coast of the US/Canada, it is one of the brightest rockfish.
I've seen all these guys in person, they are pretty amazing creatures. I was going to add an orca, the state animal and puget sound icon, but i ran out of space. :3

cheese gets slippery under the water, I don't know how or why I know this :s also I can't believe you passed on your cheese addiction to one of your merfolk. x3 The wolf eels hair reminds me of a character from an anime I just waisted a few days of my life on, so he automatically wins.
