That is druids for you! The magic of arch druids and elders going down to every young generation! Not to mention how said druids are usually a few hundred years old at the very least c:

I always imagined druids with long beards in the middle of a forest surrounded by dolmen and such...

Guess, I didn't know the right kind of druid yet ;)

I always connected druid with deep connections, both spiritual and magical, to nature!
They are one and the same, and druids are given power to be able to function as guardians and caretakers of nature, like nature in form of flesh and blood.

Their prolonged lifecycle is explained through what kind of magic they use, which constantly needs a supply of new life, that same life flowing through them first.
The only hitch is that with time, their body will slowly turn into more and more plant based, usually dominated by the flower they binded with during their ascension to druid.
Body is the only thing affected, so several years after they have become imobile (where most of their body is now tree and plant based), they still function as advisors and a point of power~

Is basically just how I have imagined them in my little head-world where gina is a part, and magical as I have always thought c:

Really happy with how it turned out all together! I basically just gave the artist a few personality traits and said she could decide on the composition and theme of the piece, is a nice way to do it, since it seems like I always get something new from it c:

I think it must be the little magic smoke-trails in the background, or pherhaps the overall light-brown tone of the artwork.
Pherhaps it'd make a really neat motive for a coffee-mug? c:
