At the LARP Vortex Adventures in The Netherlands, I play in a group of Cannibals with a whole personalized world. I offered to take care of the Faune of this world.
This is one of the creatures I created.
Baka:
(A Baka, Two Baka,
A Baka Herd)
A Baka has the functionality of a cow. It gives milk from the udders on its back.
Retreiving milk from a Baka is a dangerous task, but the delicious taste of the bright white fluid created for their youghlings is worth the trouble. This is called Maito.
First, the stinger has to be moved out of the way and held to the ground. Galar never remove this stinger, as it helps the Baka protect itself and its younglings. I would be disrespectful to harm the creature and deprive it of its original form. When the stinger is out of the way by holding it to the ground, the Baka has to be flipped over, showing a slimey, naked belly.
(This slime can be used as a gluey substance within 2 hours of retrieving it from a Baka.)
Depending on the occasion, the maito is either caught in a bucket, or directly sucked from the udder by the Galar.
When flipped back after milking, the Baka is stunned and confused for a couple of seconds, before its stinger will slash around its udder for a couple of minutes.
A Baka’s younglings come from a special socket in its mouth. They exchange sexual fluids by licking each other’s tongue. Male Baka produce male younglings, female Baka produce female younglings.
These younglings will live their first 3 months on the udder of their represented parent, surrounding the end of the udder to feed almost constantly. (Feed your Baka well when younglings are born!)
The fur on a Baka’s back can be either shaven, or completely taken off during summer time, when a Baka will only be seen with a shorter fur with a lighter complexion. Their fur will have a layer of Baka glue on the backside, which often dries white, which will have to dry for 3 hours to create a nice fur to use for multiple things.
A baka slides forward like a snail. It doesn’t move fast, which makes them an easy prey. When alone, a Baka is easy to catch, milk or shave but in a group they are very hard to catch. Baka are very protective and might even be hostile to creatures they do not trust. It is necessary for a Galar to build a connection with a Baka before milking or shaving it.
A Baka’s vision is best at night, this makes it easier for Galar to milk or shave them during daytime. Their ears are small skin flaps which hide under their fur.
Average size: height: 50cm, incl udder Length: 90cm, ex tail. 190cm incl tail.
