Here's the progress on my latest project- took about two and a half hours to get this far. Not really sure how I'm going to do the bellyscales, or if the head looks okay so far.

Wow...Love the scultpture! I just finished one myself last week, and i can appreciate how hard it is to make these. Looks good so far, i bet it will look great when its finished!
My only suggestion for the scales, is that you could take a toothpick or sharp point and just cut into the sculpture itslef. That could save you some sculpting material ^^
