The southern branch trail in east Pinnacles. Stopped through on my way down Highway 25 and hiked to the reservoir. Excellent climbing to be had, if that's your thing. Also some fantastic trails, both for elevation hiking and trail running. I was a bit worn out after only the few miles, due to heat and steep terrain. Love this place, will always return when I can.
This gulch is the location of the 'bat caves', which have been more heavily modified for access than Balconies Cave. There is actually a section with a metal catwalk you have to crawl across to exit. Balconies by contrast is very open, with only some minor bouldering needed to traverse.
