I have on a couple occasions... last time i specifically looked for bees, I found a bunch of toony, human-looking faces with antennae x3

Well yeah in that case aye. A lot of folks don't try to keep them insect-y.
It is remarkably difficult to make a somewhat-relatable character from such an alien creature.
