Well, it is already a month ago at least since my old german army combat boots were so hard run down that wearing them was no longer comfortable. So I gave them away to someone special who has self to announce it here that he owns them now and plays with them.
So last week I wanted to get my next pair and that in mind I have to add that these kind of boots were, in my opinion, never made to last. Mass ware that is suppsed to breakdown and then has to get replaced. But they look neat.
But then I learned that between 2005 & 2007 that had been also addressed to the ministry of defence for quite a while and that someone had been listening.
Thus a new generation of german army (commonly known as Bundeswehr) boots has been issues and that those were supposed to fix several issues they had. Well, these days can you buy army issued things like candy in a store and after some looking on the net i found those new gen-boots. Of course my first thought is, that they look so similiar that it's surely the same mass-manufacturing in the end.
Turns out I was wrong.
They are damn comfy! Solid, look even better in the style as the old ones, still have that sturdy leather and are even waterproof! At least to a way greater level waterproof than the old ones. The sole is directly molded on the boot and not glued to it, thus it won't just break off.
I have high expectations those to last longer than my old Bundeswehr boots. But that should be easy to make. What you think? Will they laster over 1-2 years?

Tools of worship and trample, of course!
My Sergal's boots are based off of these, just shaped to fit those feetpaws. Really love those detailed treads.

I had by now several pairs of these in my life and some are of better quality than others, because the German army buys this design from different manufacturers.
If you get a pair that, like this one here, where the sole is sorta welded onto the boot, you can expect them to be of great quality and water resistance.
But when they start to break up after years of service - then it will be as good as impossible to keep them alive (aka resole them).
I was not able to find someone who could do that yet.
