I spent the last week searching for a working Potatoshop CS4. CS2 was giving me too many glitches, too many crashes, and I figure it's time to upgrade.
Why not CS6? Because I'm running a 5-year-old XPotato laptop. CS6 is just too heavy and CS4 is the first version with OpenGL, which I need.
Found one that works, portable too, and decided to give it a stress test. At the end of a long 7hr marathon I'm pleased to report no crashes and no hiccups.
I also wanted to tackle night-time lighting.
Never have I been so grateful for Canvas Rotation. My desk setup is such that my drawing arm is next to the wall, I don't have the space to do elbow yoga like I did on my drawing-board-setup.

I think this came out wonderfully. The shadowing is really well-done (down to the detail of some of the fu-curls).
And I think someone has to say it: Damn, I like a woman in uniform--even a high-ranking Qing official.
(I'm trying to remember--what's the diamond-shaped object hanging from her belt. Is that a key?)

on my computer (2011, 10.6.8, macbook) CS6 often crashes if firefox is also running. I'm uncertain if this is because my computer is silly old, or other reasons :) Just in case you consider a new computer and cs6 in the future.
For the here and now- this is an awesome image. I love the interplay of the warm and cool colors.
