I have fired an M16 (I was a Guard at Colt Firearms for a couple of years) and a Thompson Submachine Gun. When I worked at the Nuke plant, one of the other Guards had one. Even in the mid-1980s, a box of reloaded .45s was $8.50, making it expensive fun. Very brief, expensive fun...

I have to ask .. the mac 10 is the .45 version right? What is the truth behind it like in the movies for its propensity to jam up? Is that just a bunch of bullshit or is it a real problem? I know the MAC 11 is a 9mm and it is supposedly better.. but I am just curious :)

I dunno too much about the MAC-10. I had a MAC-11 BITD. It never jammed.

Yeah but the MAC-11 uses a 9mm round so it's similar to a UZI in that regard (hell i've seen micro uzi's use the 9mm round and no jams ..

While any of the buzz guns have a propensity for jamming when dirty, mine, a Mac10, (yeah the 10 is in caliber 45acp) so long as the guns are clean, they run fine, unless there is a mechanical issue.
I have two new uppers for mine by Lage Mfg. Of Arizona, the Max10 upgrades. One in 9mm and one in 45 acp. The 9mm upper requires a grip liner and different magazines. Both greatly decrease the cyclic rates. Unmodified, mine will empty a 30 round magazine in about 5 seconds.

I'm pretty good at fanning the trigger to produce a reasonable facsimile thereof, myself.

"LLEA"? "FDC" SeaTac? If you mean SeaTac airport, up until a couple days ago it had been a nasty near 90F for the last couple weeks. I'm only about 10KM/6 mi away. Fortunately, we got a break from the heat and the even a faint promise of rain. The weather has been very unusually hot and dry for this time of the year. Tomatos and pepper in the garden love it, but there are fires even in the erstwhile rain forests.

Sorry. Comedy is hard. It was suppose to be simply a matter of replacing "safe, fire, auto" with "no pew, pew, pew pew pew" - yet I got all kinds of reactions beyond that. Making the two characters more obviously military could have helped, maybe. Still don't get the mini-lathe comment (does one need a lathe, mini or otherwise to make an auto sear?)

Never having made one, I couldn't say. Perhaps a nub needs to be turned off with a lathe or sommat? (shrug)

Anyhow, I can take or leave AR-15s, but the prospect of having one with a NO PEW/PEW switch DOES intrigue me...

As it was the first firearm I ever got to really handle and shoot, there is a tad of nostalgia, and I like the modular upper, have a heavy barrel with 'scope as a great target tack driver, but also have an original light barrel with three-prong muzzle and no forward assist.

Dopey me. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a cartoon featuring two Technicians discussing an "Unauthorized Modification" on the mantlet of an M-60 A1-E "Starship." It's still a funny idea though.

There is a series of articles in the current Shotgun News Treasury for building your own AR. One chapter was on drilling and filing out the mag well on an 80% receiver. One could stamp "Pew-Pew" on the receiver with a lettering stamp kit.

I am so using this the next time my group plays Albedo!

Safety selector on a firearm- so it will or won't got "pew". Like when kids play shot-em-up and go "pew" instead of "bang"
