5-Sentence Sunday: The Place I'll Return To Someday
There on the slopes of the Austrian Alps
where it always smells of freshly mowed grass
and the only sound is the flapping of moth's wings
Where the leaves are a vivid purple
the sky a timid magenta
and it is forever the hour after sunset
Where the air is warm and humid
and the breeze is cold and dry
like the slow, measured breath of mountains
Where I lost my heart
and you gave it a new home
That
is the place I'll return to someday.
Title is a reference to a song very near and very dear to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW3QK6CTg2g
This is pretty much the last holdover from the giant writing streak I went on last year while I was in Austria. For some reason it took almost a full year for this thing to really properly materialize in my head.
I'm glad it did, though. I am quite fond of this piece if I do say so myself, and I figured we could use something milder around here after the uh, *ahem* other submission from a few days ago, that I've now moved to the scraps.
This poem and your soul belong to me.
