Returned yesterday from a week long family vacation with my mom and my sister. Looking back, we spent the time running a little bit of everywhere [Frederick MD, Washington DC, Kennett Square PA, and NYC]. We spent roughly 3 days in New York [my only prior experience with the city being a frenzied one day trip back in late fall of last year]. And I must say the city is much more...overwhelming...in the summertime. Obviously the temperature is much different, and along with that it seemed there were double or even triple the number of people on the street. And the smells...
I'm sure, as with any place, if I were thrust into a situation where New York became my home, I would get over my initial reaction and be more at ease with everything. As someone more accustomed with life on the outside edges of a much smaller city though, I couldn't help but feel...trapped? I'm an introvert and while I can be perfectly friendly with strangers, it requires a great deal of energy, and I was so tired the whole time we were there.
I'm sorry NYC, I don't know if I will ever return to you again in summer...
Also just wanted to say quickly that I realize this is a very different style for me. Lately I'd come across several artists who do a fantastic job with creating pieces that look like they could be straight from an animated film. I've been wanting to see if I could mimic that look for some time now. There's plenty of things to change, but I'm happy enough with this for now.
I'll have something more exciting for everyone tomorrow. ^(._.)^

Oh awesome! My grandparents used to live/work in Frederick before retiring and were up briefly from where they live now, visiting some friends. We met them at Mountain Gate Restaurant [which is a buffet type thing in Thurmont] and then went to the Catoctin Zoo.
I got to feed a whole herd of fallow deer. Twas a good day! *(._.)*
