Gameroom Wall - Miyamoto, Iwata, Reggie Autographs
I guess it's no surprise to any of you that I like Nintendo, and since moving into my new house I've been totally psyched to finally have a nice gameroom in which to showcase things like these - my gaming legend autographs.
Here are my main three, Shigeru Miyamoto (designer of Mario, Zelda, etc), Satoru Iwata (former president of NCL), and Reggie Fils Aime (current president of NOA).
I also have autographs from Charles Martinet (voice actor for like every Mario character except Peach and Yoshi) and Dan Owson (a legendary translator), and I'll display those too, somewhere.
Reggie even spelled my name right, isn't that awesome of him?
It's a shame that I got this all set up (well, somewhat) around the time that Iwata passed away...that autograph is now priceless, but I'd rather it be worthless and have him still be around. He was a real sweetheart with a great sense of humor, and I don't know what we'll do without him. Nintendo Directs will never be the same.
Everyone loved you, Mr. Iwata. I hope you knew that.

*Whispers* MAYBE THAT'S THE BEST WAY TO DO IT!!!!!
I put exclamation points to signify the intensity of my extremely quiet whisper.
Haha a whisper is pretty much a quiet yell anyway.
I could help you with your problem.. *hooks up 80 inch ultra hd curved tv with a Bose surround sound system and hooks up a super Nintendo and puts in donkey Kong country 2. Puts up two comfortable recliners, an a/c unit on cold, gets two warm blankets, a mini fridge full of Dr pepper, a box full of assorted snacks and cookies and dims the lights.*

Even before the first Nintendo Direct aired, heck even before he joined Nintendo, he had already a permanent mark on video game history. The sheer number of things he had a hand in over his lifetime is matched by very few. Not only that but he seemed like a genuinely good person. I read a delightful article written by a flight attendant; talking about how gracious he was when his lost phone was recovered mid-flight. In an increasingly cynical video game culture, it was always nice that there was still at least one guy who still got it. Someone who didn't let his position or status change who he was. I don't want to build him up too much because you never really know; but I want to believe he was as good as advertised.
Ibun, this is the sweetest and most beautiful thing I have ever heard you say. I already loved you and now I love you even more. Stay awesome.
I had never heard that phone story...
I never met the man in person, but my boyfriend has, and his experience has been that he is just as sweet and adorable as they all say. <3

I saw a tweet about it last night. I think it was on Reddit? And heh... I can be sweet sometimes you know. I just wish it wasn't tragedy that often brings it out.
The thing is, I don't feel like I am very eloquent, especially when it comes to stuff like this. So I tend to keep my comments on the more silly and light-hearted side.

That's so amazing that you have those, though there will always be some sadness now... I actually cried twice, and I never even met the guy... But, it's just one of those things, he was such an integral part of gaming and just seemed like the nicest guy...
I did a tribute for him, but FA's TOS won't allow me to upload it here.

Iwata was a person who valued fun, something that is very scarce nowadays in the video game industry. He wanted to just make games that everybody could enjoy and have fun.
He also valued his employees and when Nintendo was in financial troubles, cut his own salary and emphasized employee morale from not having to fear getting fired.
He was a genuine man, someone who would put his hands on stuff even when he was in an executive position, and he was a president who cared.
RIP.
