I know its NICE/semi expected to give credit when using some one else's characters but I don't see the need to give credit for a pose. Being the easily angered person I am I could go on a rant about this but I'll simply throw the info up in the pic's desc and get on with my life.
Yes, this is why people think your very displacer beast/coeurl-like character is a displacer beas/coeurl.
Feline? Check. Tentacles from the back with club-like protrusions? Check. Number of limbs and color are details somewhat beside the point. :)
(Very much a Lovecraftian vibe you've got going on here)

Prolly should have gone with something other than a Felidae, brah. Specifics aren't as important as the general idea, hence the coeurl (psychic space monster in the shape of a big cat with tentacles) inspiring the displacer beast (illusive magical beast in the shape of a big cat with tentacles) and both monsters inspiring any number of variations.
Really the thing that's hardest to get away from in the comparison (besides feline + menace + tentacles) is the end of the tentacles. If the weren't so very much D&D db-like, the conclusion of "displacer beast" would likely be less common. If they were little mouths of some kind or pincers or stingers at the ends the conclusion would less likely be drawn that it's a variant off of that idea. :)

Actually, Ropes' tentacles end in penises; though some artists keep insisting upon drawing them as spades or suckers. But since you put it that way, perhaps people will think your character is a demon as it lacks the extra arms that a displacer would have, has 2 tentacles too many and those it has lacks spikes/hooks. Eye of the beholder I guess though if I had a dollar for every time I got called a displacer beast at anthrocon I could go for free.
