
This skin was a gift from a friend's meat deer. She filled his freezer and I was able to compete with the skin that would have otherwise gone to waste.
Anyway, first deer I've taken to competition and won a 2nd place from the gentleman who taught me deer (didn't know it was mine hah!)
Little doe and cute as a button - learned quite a bit and I'm thankful for the opportunity since they are a bit different than bucks.

Minor thing for future reference.
My grandfather used to put in a slight turn of the head to one side or the other in deer head mounts.
He said that small detail made the mount look more alive, as it added some dynamic suggestion of movement.
My grandfather wasn't the most articulate man, so this detail always stuck with me.
Can't tell from this angle whether its turned or not, so feel free to ignore me if you already knew that.
