Got a new knife a few days ago. Smith and Wesson Power Glide. It's like a balisong (butterfly knife), but less illegal because it actually requires some degree of skill to open, and is neither a gravity/centrifugal knife like a balisong, and it is not spring loaded.
Currently, I average less than 1.5 seconds to get it from locked shut to locked extended if I'm holding it, and between 3 and 4 seconds to stick my hand into my pocket, grab it, flip it the right way and unlock it, flip it open, and lock it extended.
Getting the previous image I did off my front page.
Overall, it seems to be a very sturdy, reliable knife for the price (a mere 10 bucks, plus 8.70 in shipping that got it here in less than a week, INCLUDING time it wasn't moving over the weekend)

under normal lighting (ie, not in my room where none of my lights are attached to the cealing), my eyes are just short of ALWAYS in shadow, as well, which adds to it further. Had this picture been zoomed out more, you'd see my fancy intricate black button up shirt I was wearing, which would also add to it.

Standard expression. I ALWAYS look like this. Usually when out in public I've also got on my duster and hat, and occasionally a black face mask if it's cold. My glasses (not shown in picture) turn into sunglasses during daylight hours. People tend to give me wide berth when I'm walking down the street, particularly at night.
That's a pretty sweet knife. I've never been much into butterfly-style knives, but I wouldn't mind owning something like that. Currently, I carry two Benchmade 10100 LFKs (http://www.knifecenter.com/knifecen.....s/10100sbp.jpg), and have an assortment of other folding and fixed blade knives, not to mention my issued KA-BAR. Sucks that I only get to carry the KA-BAR around while I'm in Iraq, but no authorities have given me a hard time about my LFKs in my home city.
Man, a few more months and I'll be back Stateside!
Anyway, cool pic! >^.=.^<

The power glide is just 440 stainless, so it isn't the single highest quality knife around, but it's good, it's sharp, and it's extremely sturdy once the blade is out. add to that a price low enough that if it breaks you aren't out much, and you've got yourself an excellent knife to use and abuse. biggest downside is that it is a tad big, even with the blade retracted, but if you get the model that has a belt clip knob on it, that isn't an issue (mine came without the knob for the belt clip, yet still came with the belt clip itself for some reason)
Yeah. i just stick it in my back pocket, usually. anyone not used to stuffing their pockets with as much stuff as I do would find it uncomfortable, but for me it's not really a problem, particularly when I can get it to sit upright in the position where it's quickest to grab it.
Yeah, see with me price is an issue in almost all things. Poor college student and whatnot. If I could find where it disappeared to, my powerglide would come with me everywhere. It locks solid like a fixed blade, and I can snap it open very quickly, though it'd be faster if it had come with a belt clip knob like some of them do. And of course the power glide is perfectly legal, unlike anything springloaded or gravity/inertia operated.
Automatic knives aren't Illegal here, neither are fixed blades, you can walk around with a machete here if you wanted to. And I mean, It wasn't like I had 700 bucks lying around to buy my Microtech, I had to save for about a month to pick up that little beauty, BUT, if I ever break it, its got a lifetime warranty, which is pretty neat. And the Bensinger custom actually didn't cost me too much, I traded Jim Bensinger one of my Side by side hunting shotguns and he made me my knife. I think I'll post it actually..
Technically open carry is perfectly legal here in WI, except you'd get arrested and/or fined for disturbing the peace by excersizing your right to do so. As for my knives, I consider anything above $75 or so to be extremely expensive. I basically don't have disposable income, so if I have two things that will perform the same function equally well, I'll probably go for the one that is less expensive.
Nah, I still use it, just not as my everyday carry knife that goes with me anytime I go anywhere. And without 15 minutes of screwing with it and two separate sessions of trying to gel my hair before it'll stay in place, it refuses to do ANYTHING which is why I typically keep it buzzed to about 1/4". They aren't all that pricey though, and they're quite nice for the money.
Haven't carried this thing in years, switched it up to a Cold Steel Ti-Lite, and now to a Cold Steel Spartan, both of which have auto-deploy from the pocket. Ti-Lite is pretty reasonable as far as knives go, other than the quillons having a tendency to slice up your thigh if it spins slightly in the pocket, the Spartan is pretty much a folding mini-kukri, and is enormous and ridiculous, but quite comfy in hand.
