Here is one more celebrity encounter I had at the "Florida Supercon" (at the Miami Beach Convention Center) on June 28, 2015 - as part of my latest "Throwback Thursday" presentation.
One of the few personalities I had a reunion with (at the sci-fi/fantasy/comic book/celebrity convention) was Mitch Hyman - who I'd previously met at several editions of "MegaCon" in Orlando. Hyman, as you may or may not know, is the writer/creator of "Bubba The Redneck Werewolf" - a character who has developed quite a cult following throughout the USA.
When I'd reunited with Mitch, he informed me that (1) "Bubba..." has undergone a revival with all-new adventures of the good ol' boy/lycanthrope. In fact, the latest issue of "Bubba..." was being sold with three variant covers (all of which I'd bought). Mitch appreciated my generosity so much, he gave me a bonus gift (that he would ordinarily sell to me at a discount): a DVD copy of his very first "Bubba The Redneck Werewolf" movie!
(Confidentially, Mitch admitted that this first effort wasn't up to his expectations, as the title character tended to drop the 'F-bomb' quite a lot. But, I still enjoyed seeing it anyway (after I got home and popped the disc into my DVD player.)
Naturally, I couldn't pass up the opportunity of having my picture taken with Mitch - following the transaction; So, I had one of his associates take my disposable camera, step back a few feet, and take a 'photo-op' of the two of us along with his "Supercon" concession.
BTW, if you'd like to know more about "Bubba" and would like to acquire some of the weres... er, I mean wares that Mitch is still selling, visit his site at http://www.bubbatheredneckwerewolf.com/
